Cersei and Robert: Lyanna's Ghost

As she waited in her bedchamber Cersei had high hopes that her wedding night would be a pleasant one. Watching her two handmaidens busying themselves brushing her hair and making the bed she realised that she was smiling.

As she slipped naked beneath the covers she thought of her handsome young husband, the new king of Westeros, a fierce, black bearded, glorious, warrior and felt her heart pounding hard in her chest. And she was his wife, his Queen. Through them and their children Westeros would know a truly golden age of peace.

Suddenly the door opened and Cersei took in the glorious sight that was her husband. The way he looked at her made her shiver with desire and she quickly dismissed the servants leaving them alone together for the first time. Robert shut the door and nervously approached his wife.

“You look so beautiful in the moonlight.” He said as he sat down beside her on the bed and for a while seemed far more content just to look at her.

Cersei stared at him. From all the stories of his exploits with women she had not expected him to be so kind to her. Maybe he loved her? In that moment it dawned on her that she loved him. She loved Robert Baratheon with all her heart.

“Your husbandly duty awaits...My love.”Cersei said suddenly growing bold, reaching out a hand to take one of his and using it to pull back the covers to reveal her nakedness to her husband. She saw the desire in his eyes, how he wanted her but still he did nothing.

“My lady, I've had quite a bit of wine and---” Robert explained apologetically and looked away from her.

“Let me.” Cersei offered and was surprised when he willingly let her undress him. Looking down and seeing the proof that he desired her was all she needed and she slid into his lap, kissing him deeply.

“Cersei.” Robert murmured her name as he kissed her back and he knew she wanted him. She willingly opened her legs to him. He took her hard. Heard her cry out. Heard her say that she loved him. But he couldn't say it back. There was only ever one woman that he'd ever loved and she was gone...Forever.

The thought of his poor dead love brought him back to his senses. He stopped making love to his wife and became lost in the memories he had of her. His poor Lyanna. This should have been her place in bed with him. No one else’s.

Robert opened his eyes and saw that Cersei was still moving in his lap, moaning with undisguised pleasure. He pictured his Lyanna and kissed her deeply making them fall back onto the bed. It was her who looked up at him and smiled as he kissed and pleasured her body in every way he could.

Cersei couldn't quite believe what was happening as Robert suddenly took her gentler, his mouth on hers, his hands gently caressing her as he whispered that he loved her.

She was overwhelmed, crying. It was becoming too much. Far too much. She was so close and yet she wanted this to go on forever.

Robert rose up above her his face in the moonlight looking down at hers and filled with such love and desire that it made her heart pound all the more. She reached up for him and brought his lips back down on hers, turning them both over so that she was the one on top.

It was Lyanna he saw.

Lyanna who cried out as they suddenly came hard together.

Lyanna whose name he whispered in her ear.

Cersei lay wide awake next to her spent and sleeping husband. Tears ran down her cheeks and she stifled her sobs into her pillow.

Lyanna Stark would haunt them both.

Forever.
