To kick off our #FakeWesteros special and the main focal point of the Game of Thrones Season Six opening episode The Red Woman, we grab a few glasses of wine and lemon cakes and interview our very own @TheRedWoman
How
did you get involved with #FakeWesteros?
Season
two was finished, and I'd read through the books once when I started
following some of the cast and RP/Parody accounts on twitter. I
believe that was Lena Headey’s birthday and a Cersei account picked
up on one of my tweets.
Why
did you pick your character?
There
was a group of Game of Thrones role players and they were looking for
a Melisandre. At the time, I think the only Mel account was written
in Spanish. I thought she was an interesting character, and I hadn't
done any creative writing in years. I thought it would be a fun way
to interact with other fans. It was only after I began to write her
that I reread every passage that mentioned her, every theory, every
wiki entry so I could really try to get inside her head. She's been
my absolute favorite ever since.
What
do you love the most about being your character on Twitter?
I
love the interactions with the other character accounts so much.
I've made some really great friends here in #FakeWesteros.
I enjoy folks who might be having a bad day asking me to burn people.
Favourite
character and episode?
Favorite
character has to be Mel. I'm so protective of her! Even though it was
completely different from anything in the books, I loved the episode
with Mel and Gendry. Now, Melisandre and Team Dragonstone bias aside,
I love the Stark Sisters and Brienne and Podrick, but there's a
special place in my heart (or my bed) for Tormund Giantsbane.
How
has the Twitter community reacted to your character?
It
depends on the episodes and what she's done recently. After the
Gendry leeching incident, there were some pretty nasty reactions from
loads of girls. After Shireen’s sacrifice, there were some pretty
rough ones too. I get lot of compliments on Carice’s breasts
though! I imagine that if I resurrect Jon Snow, I'll get lots of love
from the Twitterverse.
Do
you have any messages for the people who follow your character?
Thank
you all so much for following me. I honestly never thought when I
started that I'd get 100 followers, much less anywhere close to 3000.
How
do you feel about the Season Six opening episode? And what do you
predict for your character this year?
I
really enjoyed the first episode of Season Six. I mean, other than
what seemed like the show runners cutting their losses on Dorne, it
was great. The scene with Theon and Sansa and Brienne and Pod was so
good. And I really loved my twist at the end. It's something the
books have hinted and, and i hope it brings some more depth to my
character. I feel like up until now, we've only scratched the
surface. I definitely predict I'll play part in resurrecting Jon. Or
Jon’s body at least, since I think he'll be Azor Ahai reborn. It
would be great to have a big battle scene which we do see a bit of in
the books (taking down Orell’s eagle with fire), but not so far on
the show.
We
finally saw you take off the necklace… Still would. I mean... How
old are you really? *Laughs* Why thank you. A lady never reveals
her age. I'll simply say that I've practised my art for years beyond
count.
Is
the spell just extremely high maintenance moisturiser? That
depends on if I can get an endorsement for some free skincare
products! Any takers?
Why
did you finally take it off?
It's
been a rough few months. My faith has been shaken to the core. All my
chickens were in one basket, so to speak, and now Stannis is gone. We
sacrificed his daughter and it was for naught. At this point, I'm
just drained, both emotionally and physically. It's a burden.
Where
do you see yourself now that Jon Snow is MOSTLY dead?
I
need some downtime. I need to reconnect with the Lord of Light and
find out where I went wrong. Maybe I'll give him a big kiss like
Thoros did to Beric, or maybe I'll just pay Miracle Max to bring him
back for me.
How
do you think Stannis would feel if he saw your true face?
I
think he never would have taken me seriously. Honestly, who would
listen to an old crone? Men respond better to a pretty face and perky
breasts. It's much easier to get them to do what you need them to
than if you look like you've been around for a millennia.
How
do you feel about your true face?
My
face is my face. I don't hate it, it just reminds me that we grow
closer to death each day, and that I'll continue to fight against the
Others until my last breath.
Do
you think you’ll survive or sacrifice yourself somehow?
I
don't know if I'll survive the or not, but I kind of doubt it. If I
don't, I hope I go down in a literal blaze of glory, sacrificing
myself for the good of the realm in an epic battle against the
Night’s King.
